‘Give us this day our daily bread’

‘Dearly beloved we are gathered here today to get through this thing called life!’

A knowledge alone of God will not save us.  Sitting in church for worship might be a good start, but to make the time there worthwhile, we need an experimental knowledge of God and love is the ingredient we desperately need for eternal life. Only the Spirit of Christ, which is given as a gift, as we desire to follow His character, can accomplish a change in good behaviour that exhibits supernatural love. The filthy rags of human disputes, self opinions and not following God’s will has to be discarded and a new life and attitude replacing the old character realised.

In the following pages there is a lot of reading material so as to make it easier you can get a lot of good ideas from the headings, pictures and charts that summarize some of what is written. This section revolves around making the character right by the standards God approves and the requirements of the gospel and what the gospel really is.

At the centre of the book of Revelation is the gospel spoken of in the three angel’s messages and at the centre of the gospel is a message of love and we need to be part of that love experience. The vital ingredient in the third angels’ messages is love, adoration… worship. The right hand of that message is the health message and again the vitality that permeates and heals the body is love. The body is powered from the brain and its electrical pathways and love affects the body through the Holy Spirit revitalising the brain. The keeping of the commandments, the keeping of natural, health laws is part of that love and “Jesus said,” if you love me keep my commandments and We will love you and manifest Ourselves to you. God has shown His love and what about our response and that response is walking with Him in the paths of life. Love is a two way street and the parameters of love is the law but the experience of love is following Jesus and for us today that is following the Word given us. The Bible is Jesus representative on earth. In John chapter 1 Jesus is described as the Word and in Revelation 11:3 the Word of God is described as the two witnesses- that is the Old and New Testament.

The law of ten commandments kept in response for one’s love for God is a wall of protection.

The Bible presents love as walking or progressing in truth and correction is part of that love, but correction done in such a way as to win that person as following the example of Jesus. It also presents sitting on the fence or allowing evil to transpire and not doing anything to correct it as something that you will be accountable for.  Yet in correction and no joy, we also miss the point.

In the Old Testament we find…Eli was gentle, loving, and kind, and had a true interest in the service of God and the prosperity of His cause. He was a man who had power in prayer. He never rose up in rebellion against the words of God. But he was wanting; he did not have firmness of character to reprove sin and execute justice against the sinner, so that God could depend upon him to keep Israel pure. He did not add to his faith the courage and power to say “No” at the right time and in the right place.  Eli should have first attempted to restrain evil by mild measures; but if that would not avail, he should have subdued the wrong by the sternest measures. God’s honor must be sacredly preserved, even if it separates us from the nearest relative. One defect in a man otherwise talented may destroy his usefulness in this life, and cause him to hear in the day of God the unwelcome words, “Depart from me, ye that work iniquity.” [Matthew 7:23.] {GW92 83.3}  The service of love comes with responsibilities that can be difficult to deal with when working with human nature in a sin laden world and people would rather not be disturbed, to carry on with their own desires which is contrary to God’s plan of salvation.

Those who have too little courage to reprove wrong, or who through indolence or lack of interest make no earnest effort to purify the family or the church of God, are held accountable for the evil that may result from their neglect of duty. We are just as responsible for evils that we might have checked in others by exercise of parental or pastoral authority as if the acts had been our own. {CC 141.7}

In Revelation we have a message of love, worship and reproof and those who would sit on the fence in such a time will be classed with the those who have accepted the mark of the beast. When Jesus started his ministry, it was about how we should act with each other. Consider such chapters as Matthew 5,6,7. The gospel referred to in  Revelation 14 should have this end result John  13:35 By this shall all [men] know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

The book of Revelation is intrinsically linked not only with Daniel, but with the gospel of  John, where perfecting our relationship with Jesus, is given in the most beautiful language. Revelation is an outline of the movement of God’s church and how circumstances shall shape the coming of the final messages of warning and the harvest of the earth. The angel flying through the midst of heaven is calling us back to the gospel and the gospel is about perfecting our relationship with Jesus and humanity. The book of the future is pointing back. The book of Revelation unfolds its pages and in the midst of the book directs us to the books of the gospel.  Revelation 14:6 And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people…..The book of John details how God is manifest to His people and the closeness of the relationship that God desires to have with us see John 6:54, 14:21-23, 15:4,5. Revelation details the circumstances that God allows to shape His church and prepares them for those circumstances, by giving a detailed account of future events so they will not be taken by surprise.

The book of Daniel is given to us because Daniel sanctified his body and mind to become a channel for God. His example and story is just as much a part of the gospel in showing us what we might become. Revelation also ties in with the book of Hebrews concerning the sanctuary.

(How many are worshiping God? or are they offering fruit of Cain rather than the lamb as specified? Worshipping on a day and in a way that God never gave and mindless of their duty to make the body a fit habitation for the Spirit of God. It’s not hard to figure it out.)

 How does one come to have the thoughts and feeling or in other words the character of Christ so they find entrance to heaven?

“Sin brings physical and spiritual disease and weakness. Christ has made it possible for us to free ourselves from this curse. The Lord promises, by the medium of truth, to renovate the soul. The Holy Spirit will make all who are willing to be educated able to communicate the truth with power. It will renew every organ of the body, that God’s servants may work acceptably and successfully. Vitality increases under the influence of the Spirit’s action. Let us, then, by this power lift ourselves into a higher, holier atmosphere, that we may do well our appointed work.–R.H., Jan. 14, 1902.  {MM 12.2}” Listen to the statement and think about it- the eyes, the kidneys, the skin, the mind etc. Deuteronomy 34:7 And Moses [was] an hundred and twenty years old when he died: his eye was not dim, nor his natural force abated.

Yes unless the lord comes soon we shall all die but while under the service of God our physical strength and health can be retained.

One of the highest attainments in the Christian life is to control appetite and that without this victory all hope of Heaven is vain. CT p206. E.G White. You see in this statement there are physical and spiritual things all tied into one.

  ‘The health reform is one branch of the great work which is to fit a people for the coming of the Lord.’

 The Lord has given His people a message in regard to health reform. This light has been shining upon their pathway for thirty years; and the Lord cannot sustain His servants in a course which will counteract it. He is displeased when His servants act in opposition to the message upon this point, which He has given them to give to others. Can He be pleased when half the workers laboring in a place, teach that the principles of health reform are as closely allied with the third angel’s message as the arm is to the body, while their co-workers, by their practice, teach principles that are entirely opposite? This is regarded as a sin in the sight of God. . . .(1867) IT 618

“Greater reforms should be seen among the people who claim to be looking for the soon appearing of Christ. Health reform is to do among our people a work which it has not yet done. There are those who ought to be awake to the danger of meat eating, who are still eating the flesh of animals, thus endangering the physical, mental, and spiritual health. Many who are now only half converted on the question of meat eating will go from God’s people, to walk no more with them. Those who claim to believe the truth are to guard carefully the powers of body and mind, so that God and His cause will not be in any way dishonored by their words or actions. The habits and practices are to be brought into subjection to the will of God.” 419 {CCh 230.7} The body created for us (which is not own own and not our own because it is God given and taken away at death and we are given a new body at the resurrection) is to be kept in a fit condition for the body was made for the brain and the frontal lobe and brain function depends on blood flow and blood quality and is that by which we communicate with God and He communicates with us to receive understanding. We were rescued by destruction because iniquity or impurity was found in our makeup, therefore it says 1 Corinthians 6:19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost [which is] in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 6:20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.

It should ever be kept prominent that the great object to be attained through this channel (our body) is not only health, but perfection and the spirit of holiness, which cannot be attained with diseased bodies and minds. This object cannot be secured by working merely from the worldling’s standpoint.–T., V. I, p. 554. {HL 42.4}168. A diseased body causes a disordered brain, and hinders the work of sanctifying grace upon the mind and heart.–H. R.

While change in diet is necessary for a sanctified body and mind, what we read and watch and what comes out of the mind to the mouth is of primary importance and ultimately determines our position with God.

So Jesus said: Matthew 15:17  Do not ye yet understand, that whatsoever entereth in at the mouth goeth into the belly, and is cast out into the draught? 15:18    But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.  Thus it appears as a paradox.

The Jews observed Health rituals which sprang from Mosaic Law but their jealousy, hatred and evil surmising (that is to suppose something is true without having evidence to confirm it) made them unfit for heaven. If a man eats according to Biblical health laws but is a horrible person what is he worth? But if he keeps body and mind under control it is worthy of eternal life.

The church today says I know the truth as did the Jews but will not fulfil their commission. Our commission is to be medical missionary workers/ working for souls as the Lord has set out for His church but the True Witness says of a cold, lifeless, Christless church, “I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.” Mark the following words: “Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked.”

The idea of making the body a fit habitation for the indwelling Spirit of God came long before the new age movement. This unique was laid at the foundation of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church.  Spiritual and physical things are closely associated.

Love is an abused word but charity is a word describing unselfish love

‘Those who deny self to do others good, and who devote themselves and all they have to Christ’s service, will realize the happiness which the selfish man seeksfor in vain. Charity or love “seeketh not her own.” This is the fruit of that disintere

sted love and benevolence which characterized the life of Christ.’ Colossians 3:14 And above all these things put on charity that is love, which is the bond of perfectness.  1 Timothy  1:5 Now the end of the commandment is love or charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and genuine faith.

Many are keeping just part of the law and part of the law is not good enough to gain entrance to heaven. 1 John  4:7  Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. 4:12 If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us. 2 John 1:6 And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it.

In 1901 General Conference bulletin is outlined the reason why the Holy Spirit has not been given to the commandment keeping church of God in full measure or why the church is not endowed with the gospel’s healing power as in the day of Pentecost. 1. Because of hierarchical, organisational issues– ‘Ye are all brethren’ rather than a Kingly authority which is in fact now stifling the work 2. Lack of love for the brethren– the pastors are not engaging the people or themselves in the work of salvation for souls but primarily sermonising. The congregations are standing on enchanted ground and being ensnared with worldly news and entertainment while present truth that is Biblical truth and prophecies to meet the present situation in the world, before the soon coming of Christ is not being preached. They acknowledge the truth but do not love truth more than the world and so many have little interest in the work of salvation. 3. We have not accepted health reform whose purpose is not just something required for their own physical wellbeing but as a means to win others in emulating Christ as a medical missionary.

In the investigation of names, candidates for heaven written in the book of life, angels, The Father and the Son are looking for a practical manifestation of divine love, the righteousness that Christ bestows …love is the key to the society of heaven. The investigation into suitable candidates for heaven is taking place now as described in Daniel.

Angels were surprised to find that there was a law for they were ever willing to serve God because they loved Him. There was no need of law until sin appeared for they loved God and loved to serve Him. The righteousness of Christ which we must obtain is pleading for that love that Jesus had.  It is that supernatural power which we need and only God can give us through his Holy Spirit.

The righteousness of Christ, as a pure, white pearl, has no defect, no stain. — COL Ch. 9 When the man in Christ’s parable had found the one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it.

The love that mankind thinks of is squandered by men and women, being called into unnatural action to gratify base passions; and this hideous monster–base, low passion–assumes the delicate name of love.–2T 473, 474 (1870). Love that is sensual, transitory without loyalty is displeasing to God.

Love … is not unreasonable; it is not blind. It is pure and holy. But the passion of the natural heart is another thing altogether. While pure love will take God into all its plans and will be in perfect harmony with the Spirit of God, passion will be headstrong, rash, unreasonable, defiant of all restraint, and will make the object of its choice an idol. In all the deportment of one who possesses true love, the grace of God will be shown.–RH, Sept 25, 1888. (AH 50.)  {1MCP 223.1} Reason is overtaken by passion when heart is unconverted and feelings demand their way. There is this difficult balancing act for most, as their depth of love is not enough to make self-denying efforts for change, letting go of conceived grievances, admitting one was wrong and apologise.

The warfare against self is the greatest battle that was ever fought. The yielding of self, surrendering all to the will of God, requires a struggle; but the soul must submit to God before it can be renewed in holiness. {FLB 87.4}

The full importance of the 9th commandment should be considered. Evil surmising that is supposing something is true without having evidence is one of the greatest issues in human relationships today.

But, oh, how differently has the mind been employed! Picking at straws! Church meetings, as they have been held, have been a living curse to many in New York. These manufactured trials have given full liberty to evil surmising. Jealousy has been fed. Hatred has existed, but they knew it not. A wrong idea has been in the minds of some, to reprove without love, hold others to their idea of what is right, and spare not, but bear down with crushing weight. “There is no surer way of weakening spirituality than by cherishing envy, suspicion, fault finding, and evil surmising. On the other hand, the strongest witness that God has sent His Son into the world is the existence of harmony and union among men of varied dispositions who form His church.”

To subdue self and bring the passions under the control of the will is the greatest conquest that men and women can achieve.–Testimonies for the Church, vol. 3, pp. 182, 183 (1872).

Fanaticism – telling a person what to do and how far to go

‘Satan is now working with all his insinuating, deceiving power, to lead men away from the work of the third angel’s message, which is to be proclaimed with mighty power. When the enemy sees that the Lord is blessing His people, and preparing them to discern his delusions, he will work with his masterly power to bring in fanaticism on one hand and cold formalism on the other, that he may gather in a harvest of souls. Now is the time to watch unceasingly. Watch for the first step of advance that Satan may make among us.’–Review and Herald, Jan. 24, 1893. {ChS 40.1} You see there is a middle road to met here in love!

Fanaticism, false excitement, false talking in tongues, and noisy exercises have been considered gifts which God has placed in the church. Fanaticism in its furthest reach joins with the state to legislate what it says is truth and forces others to obey thus forming an image to the beast.

Fanaticism is a person or group of people who tells a person how far to go and what to do. Love or charity is missing. Evangelicals in the US since the elections in 2016, are using the state to legislate their ‘Christian ideals,’ though many have good intentions in this movement it will form an image to the beast as predicted in Revelation 13:14,15.

‘I saw that many in New York have had so much care for their brethren, to keep them straight, that they have neglected their own hearts. They are so fearful that their brethren will not be zealous and repent, that they forget that they have wrongs that must be righted. With their own hearts unsanctified, they try to right their brethren. Now the only way the brethren and sisters in New York can rise is for each to attend to his own individual case, and set his own heart in order. If sin is plain in a brother, breathe it not to another, but with love for the brother’s soul, with a heart full of compassion, with bowels of mercy, tell him the wrong, then leave the matter with him and the Lord. You have discharged your duty. You are not to pass sentence.’  {1T 165.1} Notice it says leave it with him not keep on and on about something. Certain individuals never let go of something and make it painful for others to move forward. We are not to treat people by their past history or mistakes just as much as we would wish not to be treated in such as way.

Obviously there is a balance to be met.  A family uninstructed is something a parent is accountable before God as is the church not dealing with sin is accountable to God.  While love is not a harsh instructor, always watching to catch the other person out, nevertheless there has to be guidance and correction. These ideals can be hard to follow outside the family circle; for example when church leadership is not what it ought to be.  We must remember Jesus faced the same situation when He was on earth.

Critical spirit kills churches, friends and family

In modern church history the church has been buffeting between two poles. Compromise and poor leadership leading to poor worship structure and messages from the leadership affecting the congregation and this has meant an awakening for some to the situation and wanting to get back to a decent message and sacred worship. Many Pastors are not feeding or visiting the people or taking up their work and delivering weak messages from the pulpit. We do need to congregate where the Spirit of God is, not some cafe service that is telling us baby stories.  On the other hand without love for souls and the right treatment of others we run to the other extreme.  Self-righteousness not only leads men to misrepresent God, but makes them cold hearted and critical toward their brethren. The elder son in the story of the prodigal son, in his selfishness and jealousy, stood ready to watch his brother, to criticize every action, and to accuse him for the least deficiency.  Many of this same spirit stand by, stubborn, self-willed, complaining, accusing.  Nothing can be so soul destroying and destroy churches as a critical spirit and as already mentioned evil surmising. In many human arguments the person by stubbornness, selfishness, complaining, accusing infects the other person by their injustice. Sin is easily passed on. God said I want you to render good for evil, to love your enemies and those that despitefully use you!

Relationships with others

While we certainly have to love others we can also be wary of our associations with others. An association that though apparently might wear a Christian name tag but we need to go a little deeper than that with ourselves and with others. Those who do not have loyalty to God are not likely to show loyalty or understanding to a person who is walking in another direction for which they have little understanding. So God said meditate on my law day and night and it shall be a wall of protection for you.

Middle Road

Taking a middle road and at the same time walking in truth is love demonstrated. We need to have a rational for what we believe and areas of diet, dress, behaviour etc we need to consider that which is right yet not taking it to extreme. The religion of Jesus Christ is rational yet beautiful, also scientific yet filling the person with the emotion of love. The assault on truth is continually moving to make true religion appear extreme and unbalanced but one day God will put an end to this and everything will be in harmony.

‘Vice can be a virtue that is carried to an unwarranted extreme. It is carrying that which is lawful to excess that makes it a grievous sin. {AH 122.3} For example sexual gratification.

Extremists bring the church into dispute; a few can discredit the entire body.

Extremists greatly injure the cause of truth.

Extremists make Christian duties burdensome.

They raise a false standard and endeavour to bring everyone else up to it.

Their spiritual eyesight is perverted.

Satan uses them to cast contemp on the Holy Spirit.’

 Law suits

‘Christians’ taking Christians to the law courts to exact their rights and financially gain by such means, are taking a dangerous course that heaven does not approve of, and such actions which is Papal, using civil power to exact her own means, will suffer great loss and unless there is repentance among brethren. Such do not recognize the body of Christ and by what means brethren should settle differences.

1 Corinthians 6:1 Dare any of you, having a matter against another, go to law before the unjust, and not before the saints? 6:2 Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters? 6:3 Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life? 6:4 If then ye have judgments of things pertaining to this life, set them to judge who are least esteemed in the church. 6:5 I speak to your shame. Is it so, that there is not a wise man among you? no, not one that shall be able to judge between his brethren? 6:6 But brother goeth to law with brother, and that before the unbelievers. 6:7 Now therefore there is utterly a fault among you, because ye go to law one with another. Why do ye not rather take wrong? why do ye not rather [suffer yourselves to] be defrauded? 6:8 Nay, ye do wrong, and defraud, and that [your] brethren.

Such differences should be settled among the members, or by the church, in harmony with Christ’s instruction. Even though injustice may have been done, the follower of the meek and lowly Jesus will suffer himself “to be defrauded” rather than open before the world the sins of his brethren in the church. {AA 305.2}  Lawsuits between brethren are a reproach to the cause of truth. Christians who go to law with one another expose the church to the ridicule of her enemies and cause the powers of darkness to triumph.

Matthew  5:23 Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee; 5:24 Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.

How few want to be reconciled to their brother or sister! Yet their very practice of church going and what the gospel is about and their eternal life depends on what they do with relationships here on earth. In the verse above the person who has brought the gift is to leave it there and come back to offer that gift once they have made things right with the other person. Well some come back years later and would the gift even be there still or would there be so many gifts that had been left, that it would be hard to find it again? The point is that today we are make the wrongs right so far as is possible.

In Matthew chapter 18 the parable of the King and the wicked servant is given. The Servant had a debt to the King and the King acted with compassion and instead of taking away his land and belongings forgave the debt. Yet when another owed this man money whose debt was forgiven he acted without compassion and threw him into prison until the debt was paid.  When the King heard this He was wroth.  Matthew  18:33 Shouldest not thou also have had compassion on thy fellow servant, even as I had pity on thee? 18:34  and delivered him to the tormentors, till he should pay all that was due unto him. 18:35 So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses. The more we realise the debt paid on our behalf the more likely are we to be quick to forgive, having the love of God in our hearts.

Would we hang up the phone on Jesus or just leave Him hanging on? Would we say I’ll get back to you but you never do. Would we have a dig about Him or talk behind His back? Would you think the very best of Him until compelling evidence told you otherwise? Well you know the answer. We do it Him directly and we do it to Him in the person of other people.  Matthew 25:40 ..the King shall answer and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done [it] unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done [it] unto me.

 Though there has to be differences, fruit of the Spirit puts aside differences

We cannot be obedient to the law of God until we put out of the mind all differences, until we allow our hearts to be softened and subdued by the Spirit of Christ. Our prayers are hindered by our pride of heart, by our refusal to confess faults and to remove wrong impressions. {TDG 19.3}

Wrong feelings have been cherished, and there have been pride, self-sufficiency, impatience, and murmurings. All these separate us from God. Sins must be confessed; there must be a deeper work of grace in the heart. . . . {AG 139.3}

 Those who have not the peculiar trials to which another is subjected may flatter themselves that they are better than he. But place them in the furnace of trial, and they might not endure it nearly as well as the one they censure and misjudge. How little we can know of the heart anguish of another. How few understand another’s circumstances. 5T p55.

These are not hard and fast rules but typically a woman fall into the sins of

  • Gossip
  • Projection- assuming something is true which is misinterpreted
  • Evil surmising
  • Vanity by flattery
  • Weapon of silence rather than defusing conflict

Typically a man falls into the sins of

  • Lust
  • cheating
  • Pride of life
  • Anger

Galatians 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
5:23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. <-

1 Peter  4:8 And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity (that is love) shall cover the multitude of sins.

Guard jealously the other’s integrity by how you treat others

Gossip arises often by the way a person has mistreated you and how you have been hurt or how they are different and for what reason you dislike them leading to strife, surmising and discontent. When sin has so affected the life people can imagine things that are not true but they would swear to you are true.  We are by this scattering seed for the enemy. This is why it says we need the Spirit of God to put on the eyesalve to see our real condition see Revelation 3:17,18. Matthew  5:37 But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil.

Jealousy and envy can spring from insecurity a lack of self-worth but whatever the means selfishness becomes sin.

A book was opened, wherein were recorded the sins of those who profess the truth. Under the general heading of “Selfishness” came every other sin. There were also headings over every column, and underneath these, opposite each name, were recorded, in their respective columns, the lesser sins. Under “Covetousness” came falsehood, theft, robbery, fraud, and avarice; under “Ambition” came pride and extravagance; “Jealousy” stood at the head of malice, envy, and hatred; and “Intemperance” headed a long list of fearful crimes, such as lasciviousness, adultery, indulgence of animal passions, etc. As I beheld, I was filled with inexpressible anguish, and exclaimed: “Who can be saved? Who will stand justified before God? Whose robes are spotless? Who are faultless in the sight of a pure and holy God?” {LS 241.4}

1 Timothy 6:3 If any man ….consent not to wholesome words, [even] the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness;
6:4 He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings,
6:5 Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.
6:6 But godliness with contentment is great gain.

Many pastors have not responsibly kept the personal failings of an individual private as have others in the congregation who should respect its members like one of their own flesh, protecting their reputation and privacy as much as possible or as much as we would like to have our privacy protected (and of course as far as it is ethical to do so).  We should be very careful of our conversion about others as one we love and wish to win. Jesus says to love your enemies.

Cultivate love, and let no words of evil surmising escape our lips.

So how should we conduct ourselves in church and in family matters? Matthew 5:24 Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift. ‘We should weave Jesus into our experience;  have the highest reverence for the house of God and understand that when we enter the Lord’s house it should be with hearts that are softened and subdued by such thoughts as these: “God is here; this is His house. I must have pure thoughts and the holiest motives. I must have no pride, envy, jealousy, evil surmising, hatred, or deception in my heart, for I am coming into the presence of the holy God.’ Jesus saves the life of the adultress and does not lecture her John 8:11 And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.

It is our duty to confess our fault and seek for reconciliation.

James 5:16 Confess [your] faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

 One of the most difficult things is perhaps reconciliation because of human pride or the response we might often get from the other person- what we tend to do is ignore it or pretend its not there but this is something we need to meet head on. Note ‘it is our duty.’ Reconciliation does not mean that everything goes back to where we started but coming to terms with where things are at now and making the most out of it and moving on. It’s about making hearts right and be aware that many do not have a forgiving heart but we must do our part and often we have to leave it at that, for most people will shut the door on their brothers and sisters while claiming to be Christians. Have you ever tried to sort things out with someone, you call them and they won’t return your calls or get an apology and they refuse to work things out. Even though we would love to settle things nicely often we just have to let it go because we are dealing with a evil world and people with tainted self-justified perspectives and we can also be part of the problem. We have to check our hearts and makes wrongs right is all we can do. If God so to speak allows the door to be shut then we have to let it be.  It is God’s wish for us to mend relationships where possible. The ordinance of foot washing was given to us for reconciliation in the church.

Reality is that people within the church and outside the church are generally unforgiving when approached for forgiveness and this is played out in a number of responses. Justifying self, refusing to speak to the person, point blank saying for certain reasons why they cannot forgive the other person. Others take offence for imaginary wrongs that never were intended or occured. It means that there are people in the church building but they are not in Christ but we need to be in Christ. 1 John 3:14 We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not [his] brother abideth in death. The challenge is this Matthew  5:44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you.

Life is not static

Life is not static for those that desire to progress and change, learning by their mistakes and by God’s

life is not staticgrace are able to repent, correct their ways and move on. But many would draw us back to past mistakes and disappointments.

The Lord in speaking to David about the great sin committed with Bathsheba gave David opportunity to correct his ways and find restoration. He gives all such opportunity yet many are what the other brother was to the prodigal son.

Christ was accused of Satan because of his jealous and selfish heart, but let us not participate in this evil between one another.

Evil surmising- to suggest something that is not true is the work of the enemy and many times constructions are made about other people through their impressions when the Lord would have us give them the benefits accustomed to ourselves as sinners. Impression of the mind, though thought to be impressions of the Holy Spirit are a form of fanaticism if they are not true, and having no substance of truth in them, they are damaging to the individual and the relationships between one another. Let us uphold our brethren until we have blinding evidence that we cannot do otherwise. Thoughts and feelings must be established in absolute truth of the word and evidence of the situation. Are we praying and befriending our brethren? Are we loyal to their reputation and well being?

Treating the person by the history of their faults- does forgiveness mean bringing faults up to remembrance? Thank God He does not do this or yet our sins will remain on record if we don’t repent of this evil. Repentance and confession and humbling of heart is necessary on all side if we are to be in unity and by such unity the power of the Holy Ghost bless us. Without such we shall not enter into heaven’s gates. Many times the fault of others are whispered amongst the believers by evil tongues or someones misfortunes in a broken life are rumored around that are positively hurtful- such work is not of God’s plan.

Some minds are so distorted through their own perverseness that they are ever suspicious or so damaged that they cannot let go and forgive. We need to all ask God for healing of body and soul. We can move on when we stop the blame of everyone around us and get up take up your bed and walk. Blaming our parents and others when we are not acting our part and are self focused is crippling to maturity and our potential in Christ. There are no natural born Christians or perfect hereditary of which we can be proud- let all take account for him or herself before God and join the family of heaven in sincere restoration of ourselves and one another.

Inner beauty that becomes outer beauty: Jealousy has a self focus, monitoring the actions, what someone is thinking, misinterpreting other’s thoughts and actions and constructing what that means and accumulating other’s words and actions for further future negative reference, together with their own poor self esteem, is crippling their own individual beauty. How few really understand beauty what it means to both an intelligent person and God. How self limiting we can be, when God whats us to be free. How diverse, unique and individual is humanity, let us embrace who we are to be potentially in Christ.

Remaining in a state of please forgive me Lord and regret and guilt is good for only the duration of the time in which we need to improve the situation and move on. Feelings of guilt no longer are valuable but deceptive if we do not believe in the power of God to forgive us, and likewise we forgive ourselves, and be able to learn and move on from the situation.

Paul said I have learnt to be content in all things- what does that mean? In disputes with others, in family disruptions, in loss, in work changes- in everything! How? I can do all things through Christ that strengthens me. The Word and God’s promises through the Holy Spirit must rise above one’s own thoughts and feelings at times of crisis by faith, to walk in the narrow path that overcomes the world.The word that makes us clean says Let us then remember that “the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be entreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. God wants us to becomes clean inside to out, physically and spiritually.

 While someone may express love in some areas of their life,  the real measure of our love is the ability to change to meet situations that calls for change for our own happiness and good. We may say that we are a loving person but our determination not to change, not to put God first and then family is the real indicator. If a person is so centred around their self that all happiness revolves around their feelings and how others act toward them then relationships will fail or come at a cost to them, others and their eternal destiny. Can real love be expressed without truth or can real love be expressed without the gospel? Of course not.  Love will embrace what is right and share it all around.  Many are confronted with what is right but they will not live the truth because of family and friends or inconvenience. In their cowardness they do all a disservice.   John 9:41 Jesus said unto them, If ye were blind, ye should have no sin: but now ye say, We see; therefore your sin remaineth.  Love is walking in the light.

The family on earth to walk in the light of heaven

When religion is manifested in the home, its influence will be felt in the church and in the neighbourhood. But some who profess to be Christians talk with their neighbours concerning their home difficulties. They relate their grievances in such a way as to call forth sympathy for themselves; but it is a great mistake to pour our trouble into the ears of others, especially when many of our grievances are manufactured and exist because of our irreligious life and defective character. Those who go forth to lay their private grievances before others might better remain at home to pray, to surrender their perverse will to God, to fall on the Rock and be broken, to die to self that Jesus may make them vessels unto honor. {AH 38.1} It never pays to think of our grievances. God calls upon us to think of His mercy and His matchless love, that we may be inspired with praise. {GW 479.1}

The family should be a heaven on earth. A working out and testing of the character to exemplify the family of God.  Meeting the same level of water in a relationship when walking in truth will be a matter of denying self and considering one another first and is not being based just on one’s feelings. There is to be order in the family circle. The women has been given one of the most cherished positions with the birth of a child, granting her the closest human tie in the family relationship. Unfortunately women’s liberation as a backlash from early times has lessened the role and importance of the role of the wife and mother in the family and the result is children are not getting the type of upbringing they should.  While neither the husband nor the wife should attempt to exercise over the other an arbitrary control, the man is responsible for the moral tone of the family and He should be respected.  Neither should try to compel the other to yield to their wishes.

The relationship is easily destroyed by

  • Not following God’s will and walking in truth
  • Not having family worship
  • Having accusing thoughts that are negative and not thinking the best of your companion
  • Wanting your own way in another person
  • Not appreciating them for what and who they are and expressing it
  • Having children rule over the parents
  • Having children privy to the conversations about other family members which should be left between adults
  • A family may appear happy in spiritual ignorance but the end result is sure destruction.

Give careful study to the following instruction: Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church. . . . Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything. Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave Himself for it.” Colossians 3:12; Ephesians 5:2, 22-25. {CCh 126.5}
Marriage, a union for life, is a symbol of the union between Christ and His church. The spirit that Christ manifests toward the church is the spirit that husband and wife are to manifest toward each other. {CCh 127.1}
Neither husband nor wife is to make a plea for rulership. The Lord has laid down the principle that is to guide in this matter. The husband is to cherish his wife as Christ cherishes the church. And the wife is to respect and love her husband. Both are to cultivate the spirit of kindness, being determined never to grieve or injure the other. {CCh 127.2}

That which make up the fabric of life, relationships do not come easily because of the nature of who we are. The ultimate goal above all the trials is to learn to love. In all this I can say Psalms 56:8 Thou tellest my wanderings: put thou my tears into thy bottle: are they not in thy book.

Gratitude, thankfulness, politeness, courtesy, friendliness, how much more should these things be exhibited amongst human interactions.

How to work

Many people expect a change in thoughts and feelings as though by a miracle God has changed their life but He cannot change the life without the consent of the ‘will’. When we make a choice for Him which occurs by the ‘will’, then He can work to change the thoughts and feelings. Then when we seek Him with all the our heart it says then shall we find Him. Why all the heart? Because a combination of the watching lots of sitcoms and the Bible or being of the world and knowing a little of Him does not change the character. Our input our effort is involved and God promises to provide for the deficiencies when we ask. While we provide consent and that is in our daily choices, so there is a work for us to do, God makes the changes to the life.  Jesus said, ‘With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.’

Character by definition & the nature of man

Character is made up of thoughts and feelings. Isaiah describes the nature of man as this 1:5 The whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint. 1:6 From the sole of the foot even unto the head [there is] no soundness in it; [but] wounds, and bruises, and putrifying sore.

The nature of man represented in the garden of Eden is the tree of good and evil from which man chose to eat. Good things and evil and disgusting things. The tragic death of Brad Delp pictured left, lead singer of Boston illustrates  on one hand conquering the world and on the other being hounded by his personal demons. Brad was known for his ‘compassion, generosity, and kindness. Brad had an uncommon ability and desire to listen, understand, and care about people.’ A note paper-clipped to the neck of his shirt told them what they needed to know: “Mr. Brad Delp. Jai une ame salitaire. I am a lonely soul.” Dark days come to all and in Delp’s case he made mistakes through lets say not maintaining his integrity and making regrettable mistakes in his personal life. Jesus uplifted the woman found in adultery, she was on the ground and He gave her a hand up. He saved her integrity. The music of the world has no redemption in it and reflects the nature of man- those feelings of love and despair that are not what God desires for they reflect man’s nature. Every day testifies to the increase of insanity, murder, and suicide. ‘Who can doubt that satanic agencies are at work among men with increasing activity to distract and corrupt the mind, and defile and destroy the body?’–Ministry of Healing, pp. 142, 143. {ChS 53.2} Many continue in the careless gratification of self until they become so disgusted with life that they kill themselves. {2MCP 726.1}  That the Lord loves us is enough to call forth deepest gratitude, every hour of our lives. God’s love is speaking to you. Give attention or you will not apply His words to yourself. Only trust the love of Jesus, and you will realize the deepest joy.–Letter 12, Aug. 9, 1873, to Edson and Emma White. {TDG 230.5}

Peter the disciple could have had a similar fate to Judas who committed suicide. Luke 22:31 And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired [to have] you, that he may sift [you] as wheat: 22:32 But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.

Feelings so easily wounded

We should not allow our feelings to be easily wounded. We are to live not to guard our feelings or our reputation, but to save souls. As we become interested in the salvation of souls, we cease to mind the little differences that so often arise in our association with one another. Whatever others may think of us, it need not disturb our oneness with Christ, the fellowship of the Spirit.–Ministry of Healing, p. 485. (1905) {Ev 630.5} .

Satan will be sure to come to that mind with the temptation to misconstrue and to make a mountain out of a molehill. A mind that easily stumbles over hurt feelings will conjure up mistaken ideas of all kinds. {TDG 19.4} God’s children are not to be subject to feelings and emotions. When they fluctuate between hope and fear it is not of faith and that which is not of faith, that which trusts not God is sin. In all these things I speak of here I am learning, struggling as I write and we must know that only God and His Spirit and Word as part of our daily life can make it right. Without daily worship in the family we are losing that which should be all encompassing.

Hurt by Johnny Cash

I hurt myself today
To see if I still feel
I focus on the pain
The only thing that’s real
The needle tears a hole
The old familiar sting
Try to kill it all away
But I remember everything

Despair is not what God wants for us.  Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. The devil comes to children with baggage and in last dying moment he may come with temptations too. Put your trust in Him who facing death for us, said be of good cheer for I have overcome the world.

Overcoming our own thoughts & feelings

Despair is often felt by those struggling with sin, loss or addiction. The day of inner peace feels like it may never be realised. We cannot control our innermost thoughts and feelings to bring about peace of mind or our own salvation. Our thoughts and feeling betray us and are not God’s thoughts and feeling because they are full of strife and selfishness. A hard struggle ensures as described by Paul in Romans 7 where our thoughts, likes, music, ideas clash with what God would have us to be. Often controlled by habits that surround alcohol, pornography and television etc the struggle that ensues is intense.  The ‘will’ to have a relationship with God and let the love of the Word and Spirit overcome our thoughts and feeling is required. The thoughts if directed in Godly things will not immediately change our feelings that drive us to sin but Godly feelings will come. But this will not happen if we are holding on to something we treasure that we should be got rid of. Sometimes cold turkey is the only way and if you fall off the wagon jump right on again even if it is 1000 times. Pray that the Spirit of God will help you overcome.  The love of God must overtake the love of the world.  Paul described the struggle of the unconverted man asking who will save me from this body of death? Romans 7:22 For I delight in the law of God after the inward man: 7:23 But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. 7:24 O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?

Let no one say, I cannot remedy my defects of character. If you come to this decision, you will certainly fail of obtaining everlasting life. The impossibility lies in your own will. If you will not, then you can not overcome. The real difficulty arises from the corruption of an unsanctified heart, and an unwillingness to submit to the control of God. {COL 331.2} The ‘will’ is the choice to surrender, to put others and God first. The thoughts & feelings follow the choice made and how quickly that happens depends on the heart’s desires. Thoughts and feelings of course is what

makes up our character the only thing that is retained in the resurrection is the character or our thoughts and feelings. Only God’s word guiding us by His Holy Spirit directs us in the way of life. Love spiritualized will be reasonable unselfish and physically enduring as a natural consequence of pleasing your partner. Only with our consent does God gives us inspiration, strength and power for His service. It’s a very practical and spiritual experience.

Luke 7:47 the one that is forgiven much; loveth much: but to one whom little is forgiven, [the same] loveth little.. Jesus paid a large debt to save us and hide a multitude of sins. We have to become spiritually alive to realise what that really means.

‘Love, lifted out of the realm of passion and impulse, becomes spiritualized, and is revealed in words and acts. A Christian must have a sanctified tenderness and love in which there is no impatience of fretfulness; the rude, harsh manners must be softened by the grace of Christ.’ Reason and acts of courtesy and charity take over impulse. A couple’s love relies on pleasing the other person right down to the sexual experience, just as keeping the body fit comes also down to  what our private relationship will be with our partner.

Safeguard your children

At an early age sexual crimes will give a person baggage that leaves a person unbalanced and with guilt perhaps for the rest of their lives (of course Christ can free us from this yoke immediately if we had the faith) and can destroy them. Parents often act in such a careless way allowing the influence of friends and relatives to spoil their children. Parents need to work as if you were working for your life to save the children from being drowned in the polluting, corrupting influences of the world. {CG 308.3} Safeguard everything, physically and spiritually and pray with them and for them. Let them not be unequally yoked with bad influences.

‘It is not correct to say, as many writers have said, that Christ was like all children. He was not like all children. Many children are misguided and mismanaged. But Joseph, and especially Mary, kept before them the remembrance of their child’s divine Fatherhood. Jesus was instructed in accordance with the sacred character of His mission.’5BC 1117 So all children with Godly parents should keep before them their child’s divine mission in the last movements of this earth’s history.

The upbringing of the child is everything and it is very possible for a child to live as Jesus lived with the right guidance. Parents can direct the child as Mary and Joseph did. I believe that some of the 144,ooo and those that have an important part to play in the closing scenes of this earth’s history will be the result of Godly parents who were thorough in teaching children restraint physically and spiritually and were perfecting characters from an early age.

‘Neither infants, children, or youth should hear an impatient word from father, mother, or any member of the household; for they receive impressions very early in life.’

The same respect that we should have for a church member or neighbour should be extended to all including a child: Remember that your child has rights which should be respected. Be very careful never to bring against him an unjust charge. Never punish him without giving him an opportunity to explain. Listen patiently to his troubles and perplexities. Never tell others in his hearing of his faults, or of his clever sayings or doings. Even in the presence of his brothers and sisters these things should not be spoken of. By speaking of his bright words and acts, you encourage self-confidence. By speaking of his faults, you humiliate him without softening him. Hatred springs up in his heart against your course, which he regards as cruel and unjust. {ST, April 23, 1902 par. 6}

Those that love to obey are the only ones to whom God’s promises are fulfilled.

True faith rests on the promises contained in the word of God, and those only who obey the Word, can claim the glorious promises contained in it. 2SG 291 If we were to reword this statement True love obeys the word, trusting in God to fulfill His promises and those promises are given to those that really love Him. Love grows by making the word and its principals apart of the life.

The time of the judgment

The time of judgment for the living and dead began in 1844 according to the 2300 year period described in Daniel 8:13,14. This time is symbolised in the Old Testament as the day of atonement or the cleansing of the temple, and marks the beginning of the modern age in which we live described as ‘many shall run to and fro and knowledge shall be increased.’  It directs us to the time of the end in which the little book of Daniel was unsealed and the true gospel revealed. The judgment is predicted by the book of Daniel in the words Daniel 8:14 And he said unto me, Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed. Daniel describes it this way Daniel 7:9 I beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of days did sit, whose garment [was] white as snow, and the hair of his head like the pure wool: his throne [was like] the fiery flame, [and] his wheels [as] burning fire. 7:10 A fiery stream issued and came forth from before him: thousand thousands ministered unto him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him: the judgment was set, and the books were opened.

The book of record is looking primarily for a life actuated by love. 1 Corinthians 13:2 And though I have [the gift of] prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity or love , I am nothing. 13:13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these [is] charity.

The investigation of the lives of those that believe is Jesus must take place before any shall set foot in the eternal city. The angels woven into the curtain of the earthly sanctuary symbolises the work of angels and their presence at the judgment scene.

Three angels messages

Revelation 14 begins as do other chapters with the conclusion of the scene and then describes how this all came to be. Here are the redeemed and then the chapter describes the redeeming message and then the reaping of the harvest. Revelation 14:1 And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with him an hundred forty [and] four thousand, having his Father’s name written in their foreheads. 14:4 These are they which were not defiled with women; for they are virgins. These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth. These were redeemed from among men, [being] the firstfruits unto God and to the Lamb. 14:5 And in their mouth was found no guile: for they are without fault before the throne of God.

The first angel of Revelation 14 proclaims the gospel to every nation , kindred, tongue and people and the order of the messages are purposely given.   There is no use understanding the mysteries of Babylon and conspiracy if we do not understand the very basis for a right standing with God. Only the love of God and His controlling Spirit will see us through to stand with the Lamb. Only by having our thoughts and feelings right with others can we have them right with God and able to met the trials ahead.

Only Love will get us through the time ahead as described in Revelation 13

Satan has a thousand masked batteries which will be opened upon the loyal, commandment-keeping people of God to compel them to violate conscience.–Letter 30a, 1892. {LDE 147.3}

Luke 22:31 And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired [to have] you, that he may sift [you] as wheat: 22:32 But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren. 1 Peter 2:23 Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed [himself] to him that judgeth righteously: John 18:11 Then said Jesus unto Peter, Put up thy sword into the sheath: the cup which my Father hath given me, shall I not drink it? The Father has set a cup for us to drink to test us and in the time granted make characters which God can approve of for heaven.

We must learn to cultivate that which by worldly estimates is a weakness, that is the meekness of Christ. A quite and seek spirit is valued highly by God.

Self Ownership

When a man is free the path puts him closer to God. If there is a ceiling above which you cannot go you are in fact a slave. In order to set His people free God’s people will no longer depend on the world but directly on God. Man did not come to earth to do a nine to five, to be bound by what others think or say as something above the authority of God but came to earth to grow in love.  Such love cannot be experienced when you are being held back and God is allowing circumstances here to came about to break every yoke.

The time will come when there shall be no buying or selling except you recieve the mark of the beast and the time is not far distant when, like the early disciples, we shall be forced to seek a refuge in desolate and solitary places. As the siege of Jerusalem by the Roman armies was the signal for flight to the Judean Christians, so the assumption of power on the part of our nation, in the decree enforcing the papal sabbath, will be a warning to us. It will then be time to leave the large cities, preparatory to leaving the smaller ones for retired homes in secluded places among the mountains.–5T 464, 465 (1885). {LDE 121.1}

The time when there shall be no buying or selling except one receives the mark of the beast- that is the time of the national Sunday law which shall begin in the United States, is the greatest challenge for God’s People. They must then rely on God totally for their existence rather than the world. It tests their love and loyalty

 and if they have not received the love of the truth (and just an intellectual knowledge) which only the Spirit of God can give them they shall be found wanting, without protection from the judgments that shall fall. Ten virgins were sleeping but five had oil in their lamps representing the Holy Spirit, that is the Spirit of love given them of God.  The two classes of watchers represent the two classes who profess to be waiting for their Lord. They are called virgins because they profess a pure faith. By the lamps is represented the word of God. All have a knowledge of the Scriptures. All have heard the message of Christ’s near approach, and confidently expect His appearing. But as in the parable, so it is now. A time of waiting intervenes, faith is tried; and when the cry is heard, “Behold, the Bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet Him,” many are unready. They have no oil in their vessels with their lamps. They are destitute of the Holy Spirit. {COL 408.2} Without the Spirit of God a knowledge of His word is of no avail. The theory of truth, unaccompanied by the Holy Spirit, cannot quicken the soul or sanctify the heart. One may be familiar with the commands and promises of the Bible; but unless the Spirit of God sets the truth home, the character will not be transformed. Matthew 25:10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut. 25:11 Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us. 25:12 But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.

The prophecies that Christ had delivered concerning himself and His kingdom was misunderstood by the disciples and at his death that which should have strengthen their faith, found them scattered and helpless because of their misconceptions. In the church today every wind of doctrine is blowing and the great work of studying the scriptures, personal missionary work and character reform is poorly understood. Before Jesus death He was anxious to leave the disciples with vital truths that were pertinent to a crisis and their salvation. Most of all it was the Holy Spirit that He wanted to bless His church with and He told them how. John 14:21-23. Speaking of the Holy Spirit He says John  14:18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. 14:17 [Even] the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him.

‘In the time when His wrath shall go forth in judgments, these humble, devoted followers of Christ will be distinguished from the rest of the world by their soul anguish, which is expressed in lamentation and weeping, reproofs and warnings.’

The third angels messages are to cover the earth as water covers the sea and the work which the church has failed to do in a time of peace and prosperity she will have to do in a terrible crisis under most discouraging, forbidding circumstances. The warnings that worldly conformity has silenced or withheld must be given under the fiercest opposition from enemies of the faith. And at that time the superficial, conservative class, whose influence has steadily retarded the progress of the work, will renounce the faith.–5T 463 (1885). {LDE 174.3}

As a large harvest is gathered in so Lucifer would secure their allegiance by forterfeiting the coming of Christ and presents Himself as the great missionary worker.

Allegory 1

A beautiful woman from a small village dreamt of meeting a Prince who was said to be passing though her province and is looking for a bride. The announcement also was conveyed by His servants with a wedding garment. The garment was even given her to try on and to wear for the time that the Prince would pass by. She said: I hope to have a smart, reliable, faithful and wonderful life-partner, a knight in shining armour.  A romantic and passionate, affectionate and supportive man, a sensual lover.

To live in a kingdom of love together. The glaring problem was the thought to begin with was I want rather than not what I will be or become ….

One day by chance that person came but he was not dressed nor behaved/ understood to be that prince of her dreams because her thoughts and perceptions misjudged him so they met but she never realised that her happiness had come. The young woman had many of her own beautiful dresses and was dressed in beautiful apparel which she admired more than the dress she had been given. She was not dressed at the time in the wedding garment and He also came in common apparel. She mistook her prince because of how he was dressed and his mannerisms and so the opportunity passed on by….

He was humble, meek and mild and seemed not to be the man of her dreams. She was looking for someone to suit her own thoughts and feelings but that someone never came…

The garment Christ offers is seamless, pure white recognised of heaven and is composed of this: ‘Those who deny self to do others good, and who devote themselves and all they have to the happiness of others (whether in a relationship or in the church or in Christ’s service), will realize the happiness which the selfish one seeks for in vain. Charity or love “seeketh not her own.” This is the fruit of that disinterested love and benevolence which characterized the life of Christ.’

The woman in the allegory sort her own happiness and did not have the apparel which only heaven can loom. The oil of the Holy Spirit had not touched the life and she was unprepared for the day.

Allegory 2

The prince found a poorper on a road he was dirty, battered and bruised and he came from a family of low esteem where there was no honour amongst thieves. He was alone and destitute, without a family and so He brought the man to the castle introduced him to the king- His Father and set about making Him one of the realm. He had been hungry and was fed the best of food. He had been tied and had a soft pillow and a place to rest was given him. He now smelt clean and was dressed in fine apparel. Just as the prince had been a great warrior he taught this man everything there was to know in honour, warfare and being a knight in the palace. The rough crude aspects of the man were refined as he lived in the palace under the guidance of the Prince. He was given a white robe to wear and this was placed under the armour. He was taught to ride and use the sword. The prince was a smith also for He forged the sword that this man would wear around his waist. Not only did He forge the sword He taught the man it’s use. He ate and worked with the homeless man and taught him good behaviour and battle strategies. Never once was wages discussed for this man was grateful to the Prince and lived as the Prince did- everything that was the Prince’s was also his.

Another man was also invited into the kingdom and he showed His certificates and working history as a knight and had worked for wages and was used to hard work and good pay. Many thought he seemed like the perfect choice for it seemed the knight needed no training. He saw the rewards of living in such a place as the castle and thought being a knight at this castle would serve him well for there was none like this palace. He had his own garments and thought himself already fit in warfare strategy. Though invited to be part of training offered, he felt His training adequate. He was often discontent because of the wages he expected he never received. He was used to wages you see, he was a bought man and was used to bondage. This arrangement did not work for the man and one day he left on his own and it was said the dragon came from behind and threw a poison arrow into his back. He had the opportunity to live and be with the Prince but his expectation for wages had drew him and when he left without the protection of the castle he was quickly dispatched by the enemy. He never saw the dragon but was killed in an instant. Many others like him were used to servitude and met a similar fate.

The story goes on of how at an earlier time the Prince had fought the dragon on our behalf and was pronounced dead while defending those who He had adopted into His household and those who were under the spell and bondage of the dragon He sort to save.  This mortal wound only made those who knew the Prince love Him the more because on the battlefield He was defending not Himself but those that His Father had given the invitation to, to become part of their kingdom. He was left alone on the battlefield thought to be dead. The dragon himself stood with one leg on top of is broken body while dogs circle around about Him. John 15:13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

Our relationship to the Prince is to be without wages, not as bought men but free men, a service of love, a contract of love. The story could keep on going of slaves set free who out of love served the Prince and others set free from the bondage of the dragon who though free of the chains believed they were still bound, though the Prince himself had told them they were now free men and invited to be in the service to the King. They were invited to prepare as knights and one day have audience with the King yet some never would be able because the chains that had once been there so long they imagined to be there still and behaved as slaves.  They were looking for freedom that they could never have.

Many children who lived in towns roundabout knew of the Prince and while a few accepted His invitation to the castle to stay most children along the way stopped at the fairground. While playing at the fair many times while on a ride the dragon caught them unaware as blending in as part of the amusement ride and were slain. They went in for fun and never came out the other end from the ride.

Back to the Prince- though the Prince was left for dead and the dragon thought that he had defeated Him He made His way back to His Father home and was praised and honoured for the many lives He saved on the battlefield that day. He trained more knights who would freely enter the service and gave them a home and taught them all He knew until the day of the final battle. You can fill in the gaps here but needless to say the enemy was defeated and while there was much carnage on the battlefield the dragon was taken prisoner and put in chains just as he done to others and had made them work for wages. The dragon was let out of the cage after a long imprisonment and thought it one last opportunity to kill the Prince. The fire from His mouth only hit the Princes shield and he was burnt up to the size of a worm. Peace returned to the province and there was a lot of joy and happiness.

The humanity of Christ

The humanity of Christ is incredible when we consider that Prince Jesus had to accomplish a moral task that no human had ever been able to achieve. Live a life without sin and He did so with the possibility of His own eternal loss. Matthew begins with the genetic material of Jesus by listing the generations from Adam.

How could He who was God become man? Found as a baby in a human womb. ‘He gained knowledge as we may do, His intimate acquaintance with the Scriptures shows how diligently His early years were given to the study of God’s word.’ The powers of mind and body developed gradually, in keeping with the laws of childhood. {DA 68.2} Everything that He was given as a man, He makes available to us through the Word and the Holy Spirit and the other agencies of heaven. The Father made all heaven available through His representative – His Son showing His incredible desire and love for humanity.

Many say that Mary is alive and treat her as divine and communicating with us but this is not what the Bible teaches. Mary was the human mother who was not part of the Godhead but part of the human genealogy as found in Matthew chapter 1. She died and is dead and buried without thoughts until the day of her resurrection at the latter day-that is the second coming of Jesus.

The Bible teaches that Jesus had thoughts and feelings like we do and though partaking of the degenerated human race He was found without sin because of the indwelling of the Holy Spirit present with Him from birth. No lies, no evil surmising but honest in all things, courteous and polite. He gave an exact pattern by which we were to live, act, behave, worship. God asks of us to take care of known present duty- that is all that is required. Why should we do it? Because the author of life has a good idea of what belongs to our health and happiness.

For a period of time Christ was on probation. He took humanity on Himself, to stand the test and trial which the first Adam failed to endure. Had He failed in His test and trial, He would have been disobedient to the voice of God, and the world would have been lost (ST May 10, 1899).

Jesus is presented by most as some sort of superhuman altogether different from ourselves.  False gospels uphold Jesus as different from us when He is touch by our feelings of failure, loneliness, facing death, working with people.

Having clearly stated in the Bible that ‘Christ was tempted in all points as we are yet without sin’ and given His hereditary credentials the majority of people have through their misconception of who Christ is accepted a false gospel. ‘Many have wrongly concluded that Christ could not have had the same nature as man, for if he had, he would have fallen under similar temptations. If he did not have man’s nature, he could not be our example. If he was not a partaker of our nature, he could not have been tempted as man has been. If it were not possible for him to yield to temptation, he could not be our helper. It was a solemn reality that Christ came to fight the battles as man, in man’s behalf. His temptation and victory tell us that humanity must copy the Pattern; man must become a partaker of the divine nature.’ {RH, February 18, 1890 par. 6}

He was made like unto his brethren, with the same susceptibilities, mental and physical. He was tempted in all points like as we are, yet without sin; and he knows how to succor those who are tempted. Are you harassed and perplexed? So was Jesus. Do you feel the need of encouragement? So did Jesus. As Satan tempts you, so he tempted the Majesty of heaven. {RH, February 10, 1885}

‘The obedience of Christ to His Father was the same obedience that is required of man.

Man cannot overcome Satan’s temptations without divine power to combine with his instrumentality. So with Jesus Christ; He could lay hold of divine power. He came not to our world to give the obedience of a lesser God to a greater, but as a man to obey God’s Holy Law, and in this way He is our example.’ Selected messages, bk.3,139,140.

The Old Testament figure of bronze snake which moses lifted up in the wilderness, which the Lord referred to in John 13 is a symbol of Christ’s human nature. The fallen nature was crucified and His life on earth was strengthened by the divine. His cooperation with divinity which made His mission successful is offered to each and everyone of us.

Hebrews 4:15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as [we are, yet] without sin. 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

Because He put self aside for us, that is not the natural inclinations of the human heart,  following the will of God, putting us first, He was able to fulfill God’s purpose in what appeared to be a ministry in ruins by the time of His death from a human perspective.

John  3:16,17 For God so loved the world; He sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.  God had not condemned the world but sent His Son to save.

Protestant faiths treat the gospel as if faith is something that just acknowledges God’s word and accepts the merits of Jesus. Jesus gave grace and texture to the law- this is how it is to be kept and His admonishes His disciples to have a relationship with Him by keeping the commandments.  Jesus said follow me and experience a faith that works by love and purifies the soul. God requires us to be part of the relationship that He has with the son.

If you have problems with swearing, anger, self worth, cheating whatever it be take it to God. Work on your relationship with the Father until you have such a knowledge of Him that you want to serve Him and this overtakes that which has held you has a captive to the world. ‘The Word’ is Jesus’ representative on earth-particularly the gospels and if you want to understand Revelation, understand what John said in his gospel book. Perfect your relationship in Him. In the judgment our relationship with Jesus is determined by our thoughts and feelings of character which should be like His.

In the relationship both have to work. God works and man must too. Man has a practical part to act in the relationship. The warfare against self at times will be a terrible struggle as we resist customs and practices which destroy our love for the Word.

   ‘Everyone who fights on the side of right, must fight hand to hand with the enemy. He must put on the whole armor of God, that he may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.  Our foes are within and without. We are assailed by temptations which are numerous us and deceiving, the more

perilous because not always clearly discerned. Often Satan conquers us by our natural inclinations and appetites. These were divinely appointed, and when given to man, were pure and holy. It was God’s design that reason should rule the appetites, and that they should minister to our happiness. {14MR 294}

When Paul was talking about suiting up the knight for warfare he points out all the articles of clothing for the battle.

 Love is tested: The movement of God’s church at the time of the sunday law

 The shaking of God blows away multitudes like dry leaves.–4T 89 (1876). {LDE 180.1}

Soon God’s people will be tested by fiery trials, and the great proportion of those who now appear to be genuine and true will prove to be base metal. . . . {LDE 180.3}
When the religion of Christ is most held in contempt, when His law is most despised, then should our zeal be the warmest and our courage and firmness the most unflinching. To stand in defense of truth and righteousness when the majority forsake us, to fight the battles of the Lord when champions are few–this will be our test. At this time we must gather warmth from the coldness of others, courage from their cowardice, and loyalty from their treason.–5T 136 (1882). {LDE 180.4}
The church may appear as about to fall, but it does not fall. It remains, while the sinners in Zion will be sifted out–the chaff separated from the precious wheat. This is a terrible ordeal, but nevertheless it must take place.–2SM 380 (1886). {LDE 180.5}

In the dead of night like the fishman of old God chooses what appears to be ‘rough diamonds’ to fulfill His purpose. It would appear that these 11th hour workers are part of the 1444,000. Where the voice of many has been silenced, where others have been betrayed  God will raise up people to see the work through. The Lord has faithful servants who in the shaking, testing time will be disclosed to view. There are precious ones now hidden who have not bowed the knee to Baal. They have not had the light which has been shining in a concentrated blaze upon you. But it may be under a rough and uninviting exterior the pure brightness of a genuine Christian character will be revealed. In the daytime we look toward heaven but do not see the stars. They are there, fixed in the firmament, but the eye cannot distinguish them. In the night we behold their genuine luster.–5T 80, 81 (1882). {LDE 181.1}

Thousands in the eleventh hour will see and acknowledge the truth. . . . These conversions to truth will be made with a rapidity that will surprise the church, and God’s name alone will be glorified.–2SM 16 (1890). {LDE 212.1}

It is impossible to give any idea of the experience of the people of God who shall be alive upon the earth when celestial glory and a repetition of the persecutions of the past are blended. They will walk in the light proceeding from the throne of God. By means of the angels there will be constant communication between heaven and earth. . . .{LDE 266.3}

Pictured left ‘A police officer wearing a pair of smart glasses with a facial recognition system at Zhengzhou East Railway Station.’ As in Russia China only allows state recognised ‘Christianity.’

 Primitive Godliness will meet surveillance systems and modern warfare. God has warned His people to prepare for the near future.

The work which the church has failed to do in a time of peace and prosperity she will have to do in a terrible crisis under most discouraging, forbidding circumstances. The warnings that worldly conformity has silenced or withheld must be given under the fiercest opposition from enemies of the faith.5T 463 (1885).

That which God allowed to bring the spread of the gospel to the world – communication advances, shall be employed by the devil to obliterate true Christianity from the face of the earth while a false Christianity thrives… the church appears to fall but does not. In bringing down the constitution of the US the cornerstone of western countries’ there will be a worldwide move against any dissention and only state recognised ‘christianity.’

The seal of God accompanies the third angels messageThe third angels message is accompanied by the reaping. The tares and the wheat are divided. Revelation
14:9 And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive [his] mark in his forehead, or in his hand, 14:10 The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: 14:16 And he that sat on the cloud thrust in his sickle on the earth; and the earth was reaped.

The seal of the living God will be placed upon those only who bear a likeness to Christ in character. {CG 182.1}

Just as soon as the people of God are sealed in their foreheads–it is not any seal or mark that can be seen, but a settling into the truth, both intellectually and spiritually, so they cannot be moved–just as soon as God’s people are sealed and prepared for the shaking, it will come. Indeed, it has begun already; the judgments of God are now upon the land, . . . that we may know what is coming. The “time of trouble such as never was,” is soon to open upon us; and we shall need an experience which we do not now possess, and which many are too indolent to obtain. It is often the case that trouble is greater in anticipation than in reality; but this is not true of the crisis before us. The most vivid presentation cannot reach the magnitude of the ordeal.–GC 621, 622 (1911). {LDE 254.3}. Therefore if we are found wanting without the Holy Spirit where will that leave us?

Why did Christ have to be our substitute?

It really doesn’t make sense until you have a true perception of what God had to do for you. The fallen nature of man as indicated in human relations, war and strife on this planet was infected with a virus that has been transmitted to every human being. Some good and evil and for some more evil than good. How was God going to clear up this imperfection without destroying the human race? The divine was to be infused back into the human character. How? A diseased mind with its thoughts and feeling was also physically destroying the body. So God gave man a trial period to perfect His character to put everything back into place, the thoughts and feeling ready for the resurrection in which a new body would be provided for him. His divine character was to replace engrained selfishness. Ok so how is that divinity given?

  1. By reading the Word –’man shall not live by bread alone but by every Word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.’
  2. 2. The Spirit of God is knocking at the heart’s door but waiting to be invited into the life. Both the Word and the Spirit must work as man is willing to repent, change, grow or could also be described as sanctifying the person in love. Love is infused into the human being which will have physical, mental and spiritual effects.

Well why did Jesus have to die? Couldn’t He just have shown us how to live a good life? Why would the Father, the one and only true God need a sacrifice? The love of God is demonstrated in the death of His Son.

Love actuates love!

The divine nature to restore man from sin could only come from a divine demonstration of love. That love would place the eternal destination of the Son who created all that exists, at risk of losing His own soul if the mission should fail. The death of Jesus demonstrated the depth to which God would descend to rescue His creation and the nature of what sin was. The creation would destroy its maker.

We must have that faith that works by love and purifies the soul. Here, my dear friends, is where you can work for others’ good. The precious revelation of God’s will in the Scriptures with all their unfolding of glorious truth is only a means to an end. The death of Jesus Christ was a means to an end. The most powerful and efficacious provision that He could give to our world, was the means; the end was the glory of God in the uplifting, refining, ennobling of the human agent.  {7MR 274.3}  So what is that sacrifice tell us? It is stark contrast of self-love and the love of service for others.

God desires us to reach the standard of perfection made possible for us by the gift of Christ. He calls upon us to

make our choice on the right side, to connect with heavenly agencies, to adopt principles that will restore in us the divine image. Holiness to God is glorifying Him by the entire conformity of the human will to the divine.  God cannot take rebels into His kingdom; therefore He makes obedience to His commands a special requirement.

God calls upon us to reach the highest standard of glory and virtue. The perfection of Christ’s character makes it possible for us to gain perfection.  {CME 46.3}  How? By perfection our relationship with God. Yes there are imperfections along the way as a person is maturing however Christ’s life is substituted for our shortcomings. Christ demonstrated what is possible and He says follow me… The mansions that Jesus has gone to prepare for all who love Him will be peopled by those who are free from sin. Their thoughts and feelings are one with God before they enter the grave ready for the resurrection. But sins that are not confessed will never be forgiven; the name of him who thus rejects the grace of God will be blotted out of the book of life.

If it were not possible for us to be commandment-keepers, then why does He make the obedience to His commandments the proof that we love Him? (Letter 16, 1892). {1BC 1092.5}

Wearing Jesus clothes…

Numbers 15:38,39. “Speak unto the children of Israel and bid them at they make them fringes in the border. You should put a ribbon of blue around it and it shall be unto you for a fringe that you may look upon it and remember the commandments of the Lord and do them. Jesus the embodiment of the law of God had a blue hem around His white garment. White represented righteousness and blue the law. A women with a issue of blood whose disease became worse over 10 years was in the crowd and touching the hem (not a chance touch but one of faith) of Christ’s garment was made whole. Jesus was an embodiment of the law and the love God.  ‘He was willing to come to bring back to loyalty those who were not subject to God’s moral government.’

The measure of love

“Are ye able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of, and to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?” The great movement of antichrist to blot the religion of Jesus Christ from the face of the earth is met by Christ’s faithful followers. Many must lay down their lives for a witness to the truth. Revelation 12:11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.  John  15:13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

John 18:11 the cup which my Father hath given me, shall I not drink it?

No way of escape was found for the Son of God. In this awful crisis, when everything was at stake, when the mysterious cup trembled in the hand of the sufferer, the heavens opened, a light shone forth amid the stormy darkness of the crisis hour, and the mighty angel who stands in God’s presence, occupying the position from which Satan fell, came to the side of Christ. The angel came not to take the cup from Christ’s hand, but to strengthen Him to drink it, with the assurance of the Father’s love. He came to give power to the divine-human suppliant. He pointed Him to the open heavens, telling Him of the souls that would be saved as the result of His sufferings. … He would see a multitude of the human race saved, eternally saved. {DA 693.3}

Having taken our fallen nature Jesus was to live a life without sin. “As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up” The figure of the snake in this instance represented Jesus partaking of the nature of men and woman after sin had entered into the world. He accomplished what appears to be an impossible feat. He who created all, sanctifies Himself that we might be sanctified. Sanctified means to grow in character with the result of having a character like Jesus through a relationship with Him and the Father. Hebrews 4:15 He was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.  In the story of Jesus and the cross we see the love and power of God to save. As the thief is coming to his end Jesus assures him of His salvation as He is dying. Prostitutes, the demon possessed, the sick, the apparently rough men- fishermen had found salvation in Jesus.

He was “made like unto his brethren.” Hebrews 2:17. He felt both joy and grief as they feel. His body was susceptible to weariness, as yours. His mind, like yours, could be harassed and perplexed. If you have hardships, so did He. Satan could tempt Him. His enemies could annoy Him. The ruling powers could torture His body; the soldiers could crucify Him; and they can do no more to us. Jesus was exposed to hardships, to conflict and temptation, as a man. He became the Captain of our Salvation through suffering. He could bear His burden better than we, for He bore it without complaint, without impatience, without unbelief, without repining; but this is no evidence He felt it less than any of the suffering sons of Adam. . . . {OHC 57.3} .

“The prince of this world cometh,” said Jesus, “and hath nothing in me.” There was in Him nothing that responded to Satan’s sophistry. He did not consent to sin. Not even by a thought did He yield to temptation. So may it be with us. Christ’s humanity was united with divinity; He was fitted for the conflict by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. . . . So long as we are united to Him by faith, sin has no more dominion over us. God reaches for the hand of faith in us to direct it to lay fast hold upon the divinity of Christ, that we may attain to perfection of character. . . . Every promise in God’s Word is ours….. Satan could find nothing in the Son of God that would enable him to gain the victory. He had kept his Father’s commandments, and there was no sin in him that Satan could use to his advantage. This is the condition in which those must be found who shall stand in the time of trouble. {GC88 622.4}
It is in this life that we are to separate sin from us, through faith in the atoning blood of Christ. Our precious Saviour invites us to join ourselves to him, to unite our weakness to his strength, our ignorance to his wisdom, our unworthiness to his merits.

By the power of the Holy Spirit Everyone who by faith obeys God’s commandments will reach the condition of sinlessness in which Adam lived before his transgression. {HP 146.5}  Such is something we cannot find in ourselves but by a relationship that gives to Jesus our best affections.

When the gospel is received in its purity and power, it is a cure for the maladies that originated in sin. The Sun of Righteousness arises, “with healing in His wings.” Malachi 4:2. Not all this world bestows can heal a broken heart, or impart peace of mind, or remove care, or banish disease. Fame, genius, talent—all are powerless to gladden the sorrowful heart or to restore the wasted life. The life of God in the soul is man’s only hope. The love which Christ diffuses through the whole being is a vitalizing.  {CCh 216.5}

Perfecting our relationship with Jesus

Job  2:3 And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that [there is] none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? and still he holdeth fast his integrity, although thou movedst me against him, to destroy him without cause. 9:20 If I justify myself, mine own mouth shall condemn me: [if I say], I [am] perfect, it shall also prove me perverse. We note that God called Job a perfect man and yet notice what Job has to say. By the strongest ties with Christ may we only overcome the devil and the world. If we look down we shall fall down.

The sealing of God people with characters that are acceptable for heaven are those that have let go of sin physically, spiritually, mentally. Not even by a thought would they sin. This is a supernatural experience..Nicodemus said how can these things be so?  Only thing we are taking from this earth to heaven is the character. A half truth has been given that 144,000 need to be perfect before Christ comes again and live without a mediator when Christ has finished His work in the heavenly sanctuary just prior to His return.

“Seventh-day Adventists teach that, at the end of time, there will be a Christian remnant who are faithful to God in keeping all of His ten commandments, (which includes resting on the seventh-day of the week (Saturday), and who are progressively sanctified and then sealed as “holy” and “righteous” before the Second Advent of Christ. Last Generation Theology builds on this belief, teaching that it is possible for this “last generation” of Christian believers to overcome sin like Christ and achieve a state of perfection. This is a key teaching for those who adhere to “historic Adventism…The Great Controversy, page 425, explains that: “Those who are living upon the Earth when the intercession of Christ shall cease in the sanctuary above, are to stand in the sight of a holy God without a mediator. Their robes must be spotless, their characters must be purified from sin by the blood of sprinkling. Through the grace of God and their own diligent effort, they must be conquerors in the battle with evil.” Wikipedia

This idea that the last generation only need to be perfect in character is misleading from the fact that all who enter heaven, all who have died in the hope of the resurrection or who are alive when Christ returns must have had a perfect relationship with Christ to such a degree as to mean that sin will never again enter the heavenly realms.

The emphasis needs to be not on how can I be perfect but how do I perfect my relationship with Jesus!

That’s what Christ kept on emphasising over and over again. Thus there will be many who witness for Christ who will display the characteristics of Christ when He was sent to His death and will be sealed by their death while others will be sealed by their life and will be translated to heaven without seeing death.

Moses and Elijah represent the two groups of people saved under the third angel’s messages- those who die in the Lord or are martyred and those that are standing on the earth when Christ comes again and shall not see death.

What is different about the gospel being spoken about here is that Christ has pledged to restore man back to the condition man had before the fall, meaning before Adam sinned. How? by perfecting a relationship with Him. Many have said this is a hard saying.

John 6:60 who can hear it?  John 6:66 From that [time] many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him. What is He perfecting? Our thoughts and feelings; that is our character. The only thing we take from earth to heaven is our character and only if it is restored back to the condition God originally intended. He is not taking rebels or the unclean to heaven. John 6:54 Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day. 6:63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, [they] are spirit, and [they] are life.

An investigation takes place of all those that have taken on the name of Christ to determine who are suitable candidates. Through the work of the Holy Spirit working righteousness into the life, God takes that character (this was the whole point of the cross), retains record of our thoughts and feelings while we sleep in the grave in preparation for the resurrection, when the character is restored and a new body is given to all who have perfected their relationship in Christ. We are judged on known duty or what could have become ours and our willingness to serve God in the capacity we find ourselves in. For some there has been greater opportunity and yet they have rejected it, just as many disciples turned away and rejected what Jesus had to say. The amazing thing is that Jesus had just offered His many disciples eternal life and they rejected it (I am not talking about the 12 disciples here for they accept life eternal)

John 6:43 Jesus therefore answered and said unto them, Murmur not among yourselves. 6:44 No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.

Refer to the whole of John 6. If we cannot believe that God can restore our thoughts and feelings while we are still living to that which are acceptable to Him in preparation for the resurrection as many reject this teaching, then how can we believe that God can do an even greater work than this and restore our physical features with a new body, a feat greater than found at the beginning in Genesis-

1 Corinthians 15:52. In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump.

Evolution has no place whatsoever in the gospel. He spoke and it was done and it stood fast. Our only hope of restoration with eternal life is in this message. So many have sold themselves short by saying, ‘well I’ve had a good life.’ How miserable when so much more is offered them. 1 Timothy 4:16 Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.

The obedience that Jesus had to His Father is the same obedience that man expected of every man and women today.

The work of Jesus

There are many churches but how many follow Christ?? How many go to church on Saturday or the Sabbath as Jesus did? How many are working for the good of others on the Lord’s day as Jesus did rather than just sermonising or just coming to hear the story? How many are baptised as Jesus did? You see His words were simple and included follow me. Follow His example.

Mark 1:21 And they went into Capernaum; and straightway on the sabbath day he entered into the synagogue, and taught. 1:22 And they were astonished at his doctrine: for he taught them as one that had authority, and not as the scribes.

God made it so simple that nobody need get it wrong. It then becomes easy to decide which is the true church of God.

Luke  6:9 Then said Jesus unto them, I will ask you one thing; Is it lawful on the sabbath days to do good, or to do evil? to save life, or to destroy [it]?  6:10 And looking round about upon them all, he said unto the man, Stretch forth thy hand. And he did so: and his hand was restored whole as the other.  6:11 And they were filled with madness; and communed one with another what they might do to Jesus.

Man’s hostility has always surrounded the keeping of the Sabbath yet the Sabbath was made for man.

Understanding the principles of the Bible

The principles of the Bible are given at the beginning of the Bible – it is relational and before the law was given to Israel it says this Deuteronomy  6:5 And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.

The Old Testament and New Testament must be taken as a whole for the keeping of the commandments find their completion in Christ. Health laws, the Sabbath and how we treat others such as the 9th commandment is establish in the first books of the Bible and ratified in Christ. Most Churches have not built on the Old Testament teachings such as health laws and the Sabbath given in the books of Moses. Jesus followed the Old Testament and built His life upon its teachings by His words and life and He said follow me and take up the same path and cross. . ……..Revelation reveals the circumstances under which God’s church or people are saved. Revelation shows us in symbols or pictures those things which shall come to pass thereby establishing faith and guidance for His people and warns of the coming of Antichrist. Character perfection, that is perfecting our relationship with Christ through trials God is allowing is outlined in the book of Revelation.

Sin must be eliminated and a new nature established. Investigation must take place of every person’s life record born on earth under the curse of sin. Eternal life is given because of our relationship with Jesus. The key to Christ’s life was love expressed through His un-selflessness and simplicity- simply relying on God. His lifestyle, His dwelling, his education were simple yet profound. ‘God can teach you more in one moment by His Holy Spirit than you could learn from the great men of the earth.’ Jesus’ life is to be reflected fully in the life of the 144,000 who have

the privilege of being translated without seeing death and follow the lamb wherever He goes. They will be Princes together with the King. Let us strive with all the power that God has given us to be among the hundred and forty-four thousand (RH March 9, 1905). The church in Revelation 12 symbolised by a woman clothed by the sun or the righteousness of Christ has the moon under her feet. The moon represents the Old Testament just as the sun or the son of righteousness represents the New.

Judgments & destruction of the earth

This is to awaken the sleeping inhabitants of the earth to their senses.

Zechariah :14 So the angel that communed with me said unto me, Cry thou, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; I am jealous for Jerusalem and for Zion with a great jealousy. 1:15 And I am very sore displeased with the heathen [that are] at ease: for I was but a little displeased, and they helped forward the affliction.

Haggai 2:6 For thus saith the LORD of hosts; Yet once, it [is] a little while, and I will shake the heavens, and the earth, and the sea, and the dry [land]; 2:7 And I will shake all nations, and the desire of all nations shall come: and I will fill this house with glory, saith the LORD of hosts

Our best course of action?

‘While working as if everything depended on our diligence and faithfulness, we must take God as our only dependence, doing unto others as we would wish them to do unto us. This principle is broad and deep. No selfishness should tarnish the work of God. Teach by precept and example that earth can be assimilated to heaven.’ {PUR, July 7, 1904 par. 3}

The change in our mental processes, that is our natural thoughts and feelings are to restore us to a condition suitable for the sinless body God would grant us in the resurrection.  This is to be a very real and practical experience that turns our thoughts that were once at variance to God to be the very same thoughts and feelings of God Himself as God originally designed them to be at creation.

‘Consecrate yourself to God in the morning; make this your very first work. Let your prayer be, “Take me, O Lord, as wholly Thine. I lay all my plans at Thy feet. Use me today in Thy service. Abide with me, and let all my work be wrought in Thee.” This is a daily matter. Each morning consecrate yourself to God for that day.’

Outline of the two Gospels

This experience every one who is saved must have. In the day of judgment, the course of the man who has retained the frailty and imperfection of humanity will not be vindicated. For him there will be no place in heaven. He could not enjoy the perfection of the saints in light. He who has not sufficient faith in Christ to believe that He can keep him from sinning, has not the faith that will give him an entrance into the kingdom of God.–Manuscript 161, 1897.

Matthew 19:25 When his disciples heard [it], they were exceedingly amazed, saying, Who then can be saved?
19:26 But Jesus beheld [them], and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.

Well done or over cooked

(some thoughts about the ways people mistreat others while wearing a Christian veneer)

Complexity: not giving a simple answer may simply mean there is no truth in it- it’s a good point

Reconstruction: ‘you miss the point and clearly made an attempt to construct another in my name’

Draw at straws: look for the minor flaws  to draw on the argument

Milking: to bring and regurgitate again the winning point or the opponents flaw

Diversion: side railing or railroading- come up with a silly question completely off topic or just simply question the minor point

Tyranny:an authoritative questioning demanding yes no answers – court trial – one must answer our questions on demand and prove

Swamping – a whole lot of quotes- overkill to impress, prove and uphold ones own thoughts

Authoritative– use another popular revered author to prove your stand with little personal input to the topic’s theme

Rational evasion: refusing to acknowledge an obvious point blank statement or just avoid a ‘difficult’ point

Dazzle– bold color enlarge and underline furiously

Derision– laugh at and belittle

Patronizing– airs and graces to begin and wishing you God’s mercy and spiritual eyesight @ the end or ‘when u come over to our side’

Tapping– incessant smart …. answers that will never end if u dare to continue on with the conversation

Tree jumping – jumping schools of theological thought for a winning end or just not understanding the primary starting point to begin with and/ or its logical conclusion

Pakman– a surround attack by buddies against the ‘evil’ intrusion

Labeling– to insight bigotry and deride – to capture the natural man’s allegiance

Filing– data bank years of other’s people’s answers ready for the salient moment

Policing– reporting or handing out tickets to perceived offenders

Back pats– smooth talks with theological eloquence comes with reward

Man praise– lets..see what …..says he represents the church- a pin helps him get over it and come back through the door he came in

Elephant shotgun- give it to them

Superhero status– answers all questions whether he knows the answer or not, protects and wears a cape and has tight pants….Kryptonite is a problem
